So, this is my first time at this blogging thing, but I'm hoping that it works out okay. Today, I really just want to give an introduction as to what I hope to share with the world via Living the Calling.
In my life, I have found that there are people who either chase something they aren't meant to have or run from something that they are meant to have. Why is that? Why is it so hard to simply accept the life we have been giving. I have a theory. I believe that the reason it is so hard for us to go with the path set before us. It is all about control. As human beings, we need to feel in control. Surrendering that control, whether it be to God or to another human being, is absolutely terrifying. Thus, we resist.
I don't think that we all do this on purpose, or even consciously. But I do believe that we all do it. In my life, the hardest thing I ever had to do was allow God to take me to the college I am at now. It is so little and so close-knit. And I like my personal space. But, because I allowed myself to give up the reigns of my life, I have had the most amazing experiences at Montreat. I am a part of the BEST group of girls through the softball team, I have amazing friends that I can count on 24/7, and I have discovered what I love most, and who I love most.
To offer a little bit of advice, yes, giving God control is scary, and it isn't something that you can do over night. But, as backwards as it sounds, there is nothing more freeing than surrender. I believe with every fiber of my being that we are each called to fulfill a purpose. That could be a purpose for this day, for this month, for this year, or for your lifetime, but nevertheless we are meant to fulfill it.
So, go into your world and Live the Calling.
